Last Friday my husband and I went on a little belated anniversary/babymoon! We have never left our babies over night before (I left them in May for the first time over night when I went to San Francisco but daddy was still with them) but we were ready to give it a try. My sister and brother in law graciously offered to stay with our big babies and we had tried to make the getaway happen before the new baby arrived but due to busy schedules it didn’t happen! So we started talking to my daughter about us going away a few days before we were to leave because she just doesn’t do well with things being sprung on her she is like her mama that way and likes to be well prepared for things! She was very, very excited for auntie B to come stay with her all she requested is that mommy and daddy come back! I had no idea how the would handle us being gone but you never know till you try and I knew they were in great care and capable hands! I secretly prayed they would be on their best behaviour simply because I want my sister to have babies of her own and I didn’t want my two crazies scaring her off!
So Friday morning after waking up we packed the car and said our goodbyes (and no one cried… win!!) and we were off! Of course we stopped at Starbucks before hitting the highway!
Once we got to Toronto our first stop was Frank and Oak for a little coffee, shopping and for my hubby to get a hair cut! This store is really a great stop for men’s fashion and I loved how you could grab your coffee while browsing or get a beard trim or a new dO. After that we headed to the Distillery District for some more shopping and for some lunch! We enjoyed lunch at Electrin Destileria and it was amazing! I love Mexican food but this was the best I have ever had. I tried fish tacos for the first time and I am craving them as I type this! After lunch we headed to our hotel. We decided to stay at the beautiful Trump Hotel and we are so glad we did. Trump does such a great job of treating you so well and are super accommodating. Not only is the hotel simply gorgeous but they upgraded us to a beautiful suite as well. They didn’t forget any detail even leaving our sweet baby girl a little “Trump Kids” stuffy in her crib.
Yes that is a tv in the bathroom mirror and yes we had the ball game on all 3 of the tv’s in our suite.
After getting settled in to our room we headed out to do some more… you guessed it shopping! (my husband knows the way to my heart) Later in the evening we decided to do dinner at Hy’s Steakhouse. It was a delicious meal and my two dates were even better. Sweet baby girl slept through the whole meal even though mommy dressed her up all cute in a dress (her first time wearing one). One of my favourite parts of the dinner was them making my caesar salad fresh at the table for me including the dressing made by hand from scratch. It was the best caesar salad I have ever had.
After dinner we walked around downtown and then headed to the hotel to hit up the hot tub! Upon returning to our room the had sent up some chocolate covered strawberries for us which was so sweet and they were delicious!
My hubby spoiled me by surprising me with two beautiful new diamond bands. One is white gold and one is yellow gold and I love them! On Saturday morning we went for a walk down town again and of course hit up a coffee shop! I love how exploring a new city you can find the best coffee shops.
We decided to head to Colette Grand Cafe for brunch! I had heard so many great things about it and from pictures it seemed like the cutest most beautiful cafe so I had to see it for myself. Well it certainly didn’t disappoint! The food was top notch and the decor was simply cute and beautiful!
I may have consumed a lot of macaroons over the two days but we had to bring some home with us to share with everyone! We headed home later on that day and we were so happy to see our other two babies and to hear that they were perfect little angels for their auntie and uncle. We missed them sure but man oh man was it so amazing to just spend time with my hubby and our baby girl! The one on one time with her and just soaking up our time together with each other uninterrupted was long overdue and I didn’t even realize it until it happened! I can’t wait to do it again but to the other mama’s out there like me who are hesitant to leave your babies over night … do it! You husband deserves to have you all to himself and you deserve and need the break. It doesn’t make you a bad mom to leave you babies for 24 hours… I did it and I bought the lie for too long. I know I am a better mom for having taken the time away from them and honestly they had so much fun while we were gone that they are already asking for auntie to come back!
Have a great weekend!
So glad you had the opportunity to do this. It really helps for you to regroup and be an even better mom. Love the rings, lucky you!!
